Yu Ping Chuang | I love the hand-crafted feeling in Yu Ping Chuang packaging design for Pranzo pasta kit. The packing is clever with an opening drawer for the pasta and jars for the sauce and cheese, the chalkboard texture of the labels with the hand crafted typography give the packaging a homey vibe. Yu Ping Chuang is a designer based in Brooklyn, New York. She hods a BA in Graphic Design from Taipei and is currently studying towards an MA in communication and package design at Pratt Institute focusing on graphic design, packaging and branding.
The intention of the project was to design a pasta kit for two with pasta, cheese and tomato sauce. I utilized the concept of shelf display in the packaging. Once the product has been purchased, the customer would be able to keep the packaging as a container and reduce the time to search for the sauce for the pasta. After pulling out the drawer the consumer would have easy access to the pasta. I used hand written text and rusted texture to bring a handcrafted feeling to the product.
